Regent Park holds ‘Ole Skool Sports Day’

On your marks, get set, go… for Ole Skool Sports Day challenge

Back in April, we reported that The Friends of Regent Park were working in partnership with Lancaster City Council and West End Million to secure funds to deliver a masterplan for the park. West End Million were successful in bidding for £25,000 from the government’s “Pocket Parks” scheme to rejuvenate Regent Park in the West End.

The improvement work included:

  • Levelling and re-turfing the unused bowling green for general recreation purposes including football.
  • The removal and grassing over of a large redundant path.
  • Resurfacing and remarking the former MUGA area so it can be used for walking football and walking netball, which will be established by Active Lancashire once available.
  • Converting an unuseable an unusual part of the park to provide a nature haven with the planting of trees, wildflower and pollinator seeds and a sensory garden.

That work was completed and in June, Active Lancashire hosted an ‘Ole Skool Sports Day’ to mark the launch of the updated facilities.
