West End Morecambe Big Local

PARTNERSHIP MEMBERS

Partnership Members

West End Morecambe Big Local (WEM) is led by partnership members from the local community working with other parties. Together they help to agree an Action Plan for what WEM will do and then oversee commissions that work toward the goals set out in the plan.

We recruit people to the partnership at different times and look for residents who live in the West End who want to help shape the work we do. We also want to find people who can work together with others to reach agreement. You don’t need any professional ability or knowledge, but we need people who will bring commitment and energy to making the West End the best place to live in that we can. We need Partnership members with a facts-based approach to how the West End can be improved, and who will take account of our community’s diverse needs.

WEM is not a free-for-all fund and whilst we look at new issues the partnership isn’t about doing everything under the sun. Our goal now is to see through our latest Action Plan and that is the focus of our member’s work. Have a look at our Action Plan to see what we are looking to do in the next few years and see if it’s something you would like to support.

If you are interested or have any other questions about this, please contact our secretary at admin@westendmorecambe.co.uk Please note, our staff only work limited hours so it may take a few days before we respond.

NB: At the moment we meet both physically and use Zoom (online video conferencing) and carry out a lot of day-to-day work via emails, etc. If accessing the internet is a problem for members our secretary can help sort through problems and find other ways to help engage.

OTHER GROUPS IN THE WEST END

WEM is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is also not the only organisation out there looking for people to get involved. There are many other community groups in the West End or nearby who are led by and involve local people. Whether you are a banker or a baker, retired or unemployed, a student or a septuagenarian (or both) most groups are keen to involve new people and with so many groups in the West End there is bound to be one that’s right for you.
