Earlier this year we asked a group of young people from across the West End to develop a scheme to distribute £20,000 to their local community. “Minds Within The Bay” grants were available to projects which benefitted young people living in the West End of Morecambe. The young people were supported in managing and promoting the fund by LDCVS.
The Minds Within The Bay fund was split into two strands as detailed below…
- A fund supporting young people (aged 11-18, 25 with additional needs) living in the West End of Morecambe.
- A fund for projects that support young people with their mental health.
Applications to Minds Within the Bay closed on 28 October 2024, and a decision-making panel of young people will now meet to agree and distribute grants in November 2024. Applicants should hear the outcome of applications within 2 working weeks from the panel’s decisions in November. We have been so proud of the young people involved in this project, and cannot wait to see what projects they choose to support.
All projects must be completed by Autumn 2025 and we will be sharing case studies of the chosen projects along the way.
