West End Million has come to the rescue of people who need flu vaccines but can’t afford them.
The community-led organisation, which has National Lottery funding to invest in improvements for residents of the West End of Morecambe, has granted £500 to an immunisation programme at Stanley’s Youth and Community Centre.
The centre aims to plug some of the missing gaps in services and it runs a Health and Wellbeing Friday group which wanted to incorporate the flu vaccinations into its programme of encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Some people attending the group were eligible for free flu vaccinations but about 50 others who would benefit from it didn’t meet the requirements and couldn’t afford the £12 cost so West End Million stepped in to help.
The grant came from West End Million’s new Community Chest fund and details of how to apply are available at www.westendmillion
