West End Morecambe Big Local

Digital Exclusion

digital exclusion

Among the projects that West End Morecambe Big Local (WEM) has recently commissioned are a growing number of smaller initiatives.

Whilst this project has remained on the back burner since supporting both local primary schools with £27,000 worth of computers during the pandemic, we have been investigating other opportunities. We hope to develop a commission that will support individuals who have lagged behind in digital skills. A key issue is how to provide support in a way that is welcoming and reduces the anxiety of the digital world and of learning settings.
One of our discussions has been with Lancaster & Morecambe College who have experience of working with some local groups, and the technical capacity to deliver such a project. Whilst talks have focussed on the digital aims of this work other potential opportunities have also come up.
